MySQL Database Administrator

As a MySQL Database Administrator you will be part of the Iconix Operations team. You will be responsible for the management and reporting of all Iconix MySQL database servers. You will work closely with the Engineering, Operations and Marketing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Administer MySQL database servers for both Production and Development use
  • Define and implement procedures for building, deploying and maintaining database servers
  • Define, implement and test backup/restore procedures
  • Define, implement and maintain replication/failover procedures
  • Monitor all production and development database servers and identify, troubleshoot and resolve real-time database issues (24x7 for production database servers)
  • Provide reports on availability, performance, etc. of production database servers
  • Define and create reports/queries in Crystal Reports (or similar application) to assist development and business teams

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience developing and administering MySQL databases
  • Knowledge of MySQL versions 4.1 and 5
  • MySQL Replication experience
  • Knowledgeable with MySQL backup and recovery strategies
  • Proficient with database performance strategies and MySQL specific optimization
  • Linux/RedHat operating system experience
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and analytic skills

Preferred Skills

  • BS/BA in CS or experience in related field
  • LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) experience
  • Knowledge of PHP and MySQL optimization
  • Scripting experience (Shell, PHP, Perl)
  • Distributed database and Clustering experience (For multiple data centers)
  • Crystal Reports or other reporting packages
  • Experience with database load test and analysis tools
  • Experience with data warehousing and data mining
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP and client/server computing architecture
